Camens Architectural Group: A Year in Review

It has been a whirlwind of a year at Camens Architectural Group — and we are reflecting with gratitude on some of our favorite moments of 2024.

Creating one-of-a-kind homes that truly feel like home because they are distinctly personalized to the owners is one of our greatest joys — and so are the lasting relationships we establish along the way.

Here are some of our highlights from the year:

We completed a “Timeless Beauty” that’s an entertainer’s dream.

From wrapping the house around people’s lifestyles to creating flow and energy in the home, chief architect Marc Camens designs homes for real people living real lives — including the times they are entertaining guests. This “Timeless Beauty,” which was completed in 2024, is a beautiful example of this.

To design a home around the way clients live and entertain, Camens explores relevant details about how they celebrate the holidays; how many people they may want to host at any given time; what their passions are that they want to share — from wine tasting, to mixology, sports, and more — to whether they’re playful, studious, or live a fast-paced lifestyle. The result is a home that timelessly “hosts” well and “lives” well.

We were featured on the cover of Charleston Homes.

The “End of the Isle Retreat” is a uniquely situated stunner on Kiawah Island — and we were so delighted when Charleston Magazine featured the property in their October 2024 edition.

As with every one of Camens’ unique designs, this home is likewise built on a foundation of guiding principles that evoke a powerful emotional response while creating a cohesive, personalized environment for the owner. It’s incredibly site-specific, capturing panoramic views on three sides of the property; and it’s comfortably attuned to nature with a design that blurs the edges between indoors and out.

When an Island’s End Signals the Beginning of a Dream Property

We put a bougie spin on the great outdoors.

Another home we completed in 2024 is a property that we call “Nature Preserve Bougie” on Kiawah Island. It is elegant and elevated; and it gorgeously resonates with the nature that surrounds it.

Wide expanses of glass invite the lush green views inside, as the home connects seamlessly to the outdoors. Indeed, every single space on the main level — living room, dining area and kitchen, primary bedroom — all lead to a retreat-worthy deck and disappearing edge pool. One of our favorite rooms is a screened-in outdoor living area that directly opens to the deck, as well.

Camens traveled to the other side of the world.

Traveling is a huge source of inspiration for Camens, as he explores the architecture and culture of other countries and destinations. This time, his travels took him far across the world to Australia and New Zealand. One of the highlights of his trip was a visit to the Sydney Opera House — an architectural marvel, and one that will surely serve as a source of inspiration for him in 2025.

We added a new member to the team.

It takes the talent and efforts of everyone on the Camens Architectural Group team to create extraordinary custom homes — and we added a new member this year!  Senior architect Paul Schmitzer is an incredible asset; he has more than 28 years of experience in the industry and brings incredible design passion and technical know-how. We recently spoke with him to learn more about his background and how he channels his experience into collaborating and designing beautiful homes at our firm here.

We put the finishing touches on an Adirondack retreat.

One more incredible high point of 2024 was the completion of one of Camens’ most significant projects in the Adirondacks. Stay tuned for more details on this!

Thank you to all our clients and partners who make our work so rewarding. Because of you, we get to do what we love and bring custom architecture to life. Cheers to 2025!
